Teen Ku!a.

It's official: the Teen Ku!a website has hit the web! These are the shots that I posted as a sneak preview about a month ago. I'm so lucky to have worked with such an awesome group of people as they worked up a sweat during their outdoor yoga class for the Teen Ku!a Be U Campaign. Take a look at their site and the events they have coming up in the next few weeks: http://www.teenkula.org/index.php/be-u-campaign/be-u-campaign .

Sneak Preview.

Last Sunday I got the privilege to work with an amazing group of people while they participated in a yoga class. The photos from this shoot are for a wonderful organization that I'm very lucky, and thankful, to now know more about. Here's a sneak peek at one of the young gentlemen while he was sweating it out.

Thank you everyone for allowing me to get up close and personal with you. Stay tuned for some more yoga shoot fun. XO.

One of my very best friends asked me to photograph her parent's backyard as it started to come into full bloom. Despite the beautiful flowers throughout the yard, this door to their shed was one of my favorite shots.

Yes, of course I had to include a sepia version. I hope I made Donna and Charl proud.

peonies.

I love peonies. Absolutely love them. Maybe because they represent the onset of summer; maybe because my grandma had so many that I used to lose count when I ran through them as a little kid. Either way, you can't argue with how beautiful they are.

Bring on the sunshine and summertime.

in memory.

This past week, while I was visiting family out of state, I went to visit my deceased paternal grandparents at their graveside. Anyone who knew my paternal 'Gram' knew her for a handful of reasons: her home-made baked goods, her crocheted afghans and most importantly, her skillful green thumb. Needless to say, her azalea bushes are still in bloom; five years after she's been gone.

And they've never looked more beautiful.
Always missed, never forgotten. RIP C.E.S. 1916-2006

pride and glory.

Patriotism: devoted love, support and defense of one's country; national loyalty.

...one nation, under God, INDIVISIBLE, with liberty and justice for all.

batter up.

Playing with focus has to be one of my favorite things to do when I'm behind the camera. And considering I'm still learning all the tricks, I love when fun shots like this one turn out greater than I could have expected.

The peeling fence and the batter's follow through come together beautifully.

lady luck.

Superstitious people say that ladybugs represent good luck, ranging from how many months of happiness you can expect, or even how many children you'll have. Regardless of specifics, my niece has a lot of good times ahead of her after the amount of ladybugs she recently entertained.

"Holy crap, look how many there are! Oh, eww. My hands look weird." - my niece, Emma.

precious petals.

Between the family egg hunts and delicious food this past Easter weekend, I took some time to smell the flowers; tulips to be exact. Yes, tulips AGAIN. This one in particular was especially striking. Color. Sunshine. Quite the b-e-a-uuuuutiful mixture.

Even in black and white you can see its brightness. LOVE.

Good Friday.

When I originally took this photo, I had no idea if (or when) I would ever do anything with it. I chose today. This particular shot of an overgrown, thorny shrub is by no means a comparison to the crown that was made on the day of the crucifixion of Christ, but they're symbolic to me.

John 19:2 - And the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe.

Happy Easter, all.

la flor.

April showers usually bring may flowers. In my case yesterday, I got to enjoy a little bit of both. With some leftover raindrops still holding onto the petals of my sister's tulips, I knew I had to get a few shots in; cloudy or not.

The color shot is gorgeous, but the black and white is simply stunning.

dog days.

My sister's miniature wire-haired Dachshund, Cleopatra, was in all her glory today while basking in the sunshine. She even took time to pose for a close up.

I decided to try on a sepia look for little Miss Cleo; she prefers the color shot.

play ball.

I'm given the privilege every Sunday to watch a legendary group of gentlemen play softball and have a blast while doing so. They are quite the photo enthusiast's dream. More importantly, they ham it up for me. And I absolutely love it.

In between the at bats and runs scored, I got a beautiful view of the cage by home plate. The rust and paint are a beautiful centerpiece to the neon softballs.

And if color isn't your forté, here's a black and white to enjoy.
